Our topic is Eye Safety & our speaker is Dr. Weber with Novus Eye Clinic! We will also have Marty Neel, highway worker for the Plain Township Highway Department. On a snowy day, after finishing his task of salting the roads, he was assigned to repair a stop sign that had been run over. Although his eye protection was in his vehicle, he didn’t put it on, as the “sunglass” style lenses seemed unnecessary in the snowy, overcast conditions. While he was in the process of fixing the sign, something struck his eye. He immediately saw brown and bubbles before collapsing to his knees. A small piece of metal had entered his eye. Despite undergoing three surgeries at the Cleveland Clinic, it became clear that his eye could not be saved.
